Sisters Series

This sculpture started as a challenge from Preston Jackson. I was studying with him at the time with a small group of aspiring artists at the CAC learning how to sculpt in Lost Wax.  Prestons words were…."Sculpt something that looks like it came from the Art Deco Era".  During this time of trying to figure out what I was going to sculpt my Dad passed away and left me with no inspiration or desire to sculpt. Two days before my next meeting with Preston I knew I couldn’t disappoint Preston or myself.  I honestly can’t tell you where she came from but I had a picture in my mind and as I took tool in hand "Chicago 1926" emerged to become my very first sculpture to be cast in bronze. I must add that I did not disappoint Preston or myself.  This Sisters Series has expanded to three, so far with the Second Sister "New Orleans 1926" at the H.D. Smith Gallery, Hoogland Art Center in Springfield.  The third Sister "New York 1926" is in the first stages to be completed this year.
